Trouble on the trail
Get back to the climb.
Work through the smallest useful fix first. Protect your save before changing storage or reinstalling.
Field note 01
The game does not finish loading
Start with the connection and a clean reload, while protecting any existing save.
- Confirm you are opening the game on thewowdb.com/spiresofazeroth/, rather than this guide site.
- Check your internet connection. The browser game and first desktop launch fetch assets from TheWoWDB.
- Reload the page once. If a content blocker reports a blocked game resource, review that specific rule.
- Try another browser profile to isolate extensions or blocked storage. That profile will have a separate save.
- Before clearing the original profile’s site data, export its save if the game still opens. Do not erase progress as a first troubleshooting step.
Field note 02
Music or sound is missing
Game sound has separate controls for music, ambience and effects.
- Click or tap inside the game to allow the browser to start audio.
- Press Esc and inspect Music sounds, Ambient sounds and Game sounds. A slider at zero silences that channel.
- Check whether the browser tab, your device or the selected output is muted.
- If only a particular asset is silent, confirm the network is available and report the zone or card involved.
Field note 03
My progress is missing
Saves are local to a browser profile and game origin. A desktop install starts with its own save.
- Return to the same browser, profile, device and game URL used for the original run.
- Check whether the original session was private browsing; that storage may not survive after the session closes.
- If you have a backup, export any current destination progress first, then use the game’s Save → Import with the whole SPIRES1: string.
- If the import reports blocked or full storage, allow storage for the game and check available space.
- If local data has been deleted and no export exists, this guide site cannot restore it. Avoid running scripts or sharing a save with an unknown “recovery” service.
Field note 04
Combat feels slow or motion is uncomfortable
Use the built-in options before changing your system.
- Open Esc and adjust Attack speed to a comfortable setting.
- Set Motion to Reduce motion if you prefer less animation.
- Close unneeded resource-heavy tabs or apps, then compare again.
- When reporting a rendering problem, include browser version, device, zone and the action that triggered it.
Field note 05
The save import rejects my string
The save implementation expects a complete export beginning with SPIRES1:.
- Copy the entire export, including its SPIRES1: prefix.
- Check that a messaging app or document did not truncate the text.
- Use the original export file if the game reports a damaged or cut-off string.
- Import replaces the stored progress. Keep both your original backup and an export of the destination before trying again.
A reproducible bug is easier to fix.
For game bugs, use the in-game “Report a Bug” button or the developer’s GitHub issues. Include the game version, platform, exact steps and visible error. The game developer maintains the playable game; this independent site maintains its guides.
